Thanks to contributions from more than 40 individual donors (10 super donors), we were able to purchase laptops, internet and tutorial vouchers for 14 students*.*

Following the Online opening ceremony, we held an in-person launch day of the DirectEd bootcamp at Young African Leaders Initiative - Regional Leadership Center East Africa at Kenyatta University. Dr. George Kosimbei, YALI RLC Chief of Party, graced the event with his presence.

In April, Simon was invited to participate in a panel discussion exploring the intersection of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) and charitable giving at NFT.NYC - one of the largest blockchain conferences in the world. The panel (recording here, Simon from 9:30) explored several key reasons behind the transformative power of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) in charitable giving.
Not only do they constitute a more tangible token of appreciation, they also enable transparency, traceability, and proof of donation. NFTs open more opportunities for charities. We in DirectEd give donors access to the “Donors Portal” to those who hold the NFTs in their wallet. In the future, we will also enable donors to have a say and influence the direction of our project by giving those who hold donor NFTs voting privileges.
