What is the testnet?

The Cardno pre-production testnet is a copy of the Cardano mainnet where developers can test and experiment with new features and applications before they are released on the mainnet. It is essentially a sandbox environment that simulates the mainnet, but with test coins that have no real-world value.

How do I participate?

  1. Read about the two projects and corresponding smart contracts we are currently testing.
  2. Sign up using the form you see on https://testnet.directed.dev/.
  3. Wait for email from us informing you about your role and the next steps.

Tutors Marketplace

The goal of the Tutors Marketplace is to provide a decentralised platform for tutoring financing and matchmaking of tutors to students. To learn more, please read our project proposal submitted to Project Catalyst Fund 10: DirectEd- Decentralized Tutor’s Marketplace (Uber for Tutoring).

How the marketplace works

  1. The Education funder performs vetting (whitelisting) of tutors. They send Tutor NFTs to the Cardano wallet address of the vetted tutor.
  2. Tutors put up tutorial session availability ahead of time on the platform with information about content time, place and price (fixed, or using “when2meet” system).
  3. Education funder sends stablecoin to the Tutorial Vouchers (TV) Redemption smart contract and a corresponding amount of TV to students they want to support.
  4. Students show up and pay the tutor before the start of the session. Students may pay with TV or pay using mobile money (MPesa). Tutor holds the session.
  5. Tutor sends TV token to the TV Redemption smart contract and receives stablecoin and the Tutor NFT. The Tutor NFTs must be included in the transaction.

Crowdfunding Milestones

The goal of the Crowdfunding Milestones smart contracts is to enable anyone to contribute to a fund a particular cause where the funds to the entity executing on this cause is released in tranches, conditional on satisfactory fulfilment of milestones.
