Overview

Problem Statements

  1. Partner schools cannot issue digitalised grades to graduates of their school. DirectEd has thus no low-cost mechanism for verifying (at scale) that student (a) attended partner school, and (b) achieved certain grades during the application stage for the free Intro to Coding Course (a), and Coding Bootcamp (b), respectively.
  2. DirectEd has no mechanism for issuing VC to students who pass DirectEd courses. Thus, students cannot show their learning credentials to other parties.
  3. Students have no mechanism for self-certifying that a given Crypto wallet belongs to them.

Current Solution

  1. We manually send a list of names of students who have signed up. We ask the school (A) is this a student of your school, (B) did they achieve X grades in Maths and English? (not as scalable)
  2. We do not issue credentials to students. We would probably have issued a PDF signed by Simon.
  3. Students have no mechanism for self-certifying that a given crypto wallet

Proposed Solution

  1. A dashboard enabling teachers at partner schools, and DirectEd, to issue verifiable credentials (VC) to students who wish to prove that they achieved certain grades from the partner high school.
  2. Mobile wallet and desktop identity wallet which enable students to receive said VC
  3. A dashboard enabling DirectEd to issue VC to students who complete their courses.
